What Personal Data We Collect and Why

When visitors to our site leave comments, we collect the data shown in the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. If you are using a Gravatar service, an anonymized string created from your email address may also be provided to that service. After approval of your comment, this will make your profile picture visible to the public in the context of your comment. Comment Subscriptions and Email

Outdoor More to Explore offers several subscription options. You can subscribe to receive an email every time a new blog is posted, blog post subscriptions and comment subscriptions. To initiate and process subscriptions, the following information is used; subscriber’s email address and the ID of the post or comment. In the event of a new subscription being initiated, we also collect some basic server data, including all of the subscribing user’s HTTP request headers, the IP address from which the subscriber is viewing the page, and the URI that was given in order to access the page. This server data is used exclusively for the purpose of monitoring and preventing abuse and spam.

Word Stats

Outdoor More to Explore uses Word Press stats to collect statistical information regarding website traffic and website usage. Word Press Stats collects IP address, user ID (if logged in), username (if logged in), user agent, visiting URL, referring URL, a timestamp of the event, browser language, and country code. Note that Outdoor More to Explore does not have access to any of this information. As site owners, we can see, for example, that a post has been viewed a certain number of times, but cannot see which specific users/accounts viewed a post. Stats logs containing visitor IP addresses and Word usernames (if available) are retained by Automatic for 28 days and are used for the sole purpose of powering this feature. Instagram Feed Plugin

Outdoor More to Explore uses an Instagram Feed plugin. The free version of the plugin (which we use) does not display usernames of users commenting or posting.
